ISDHF International Inductee Nomination

The Ministry of Tourism is currently seeking nominations for individuals who have made a significant contribution to the sport of diving to be recognized at the 2026 International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

Nominee Category:


Inductee 

  • Induction into the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame is a career award, honoring an individual who has by his or her years of individual significant career contributions** advanced the sport of scuba diving and international dive travel.
  • A significant contribution refers to an individual who has led or aided in the development, promotion, or safety of scuba diving in a manner that has had a positive impact on the overall sport. The contribution may be made in the areas of dive travel, entertainment, art, equipment design & development, education, exploration, and adventure.
  • In rare cases, an individual may be inducted for a single outstanding achievement, but such cases are uncommon.


Early Pioneer

  • Early Pioneers are those people whose contributions laid the foundation on which our sport was built. These divers introduced the masks, fins, snorkel, scuba tank, scuba regulator, and training programs, and they shot the early films and photographs of the sport. These are the trailblazers that we have all followed.


 Trail Blazer

The "Trailblazer" category within the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame honors individuals who have made significant and pioneering contributions to the world of scuba diving. This category recognizes those who have not only excelled in their diving endeavors but have also played a crucial role in advancing the sport, promoting environmental awareness, and inspiring future generations of divers.

 

Characteristics of a Trailblazer Inductee:

  • Significant contributions to the development of scuba diving technologies or practices.
  • Advocacy for marine conservation and environmental stewardship related to underwater ecosystems.
  • Contributions to the education and training of divers, enhancing safety and skills within the community.
  • Inspiring leadership or innovation that has positively influenced the diving industry or community.
  • Promotion of scuba diving as a recreational activity and its benefits for mental and physical health.

 

Trailblazers in this category are recognized not only for their outstanding achievements but also for their ability to set the standard for excellence and inspire others to pursue the adventures of scuba diving.


Criteria for submission:

In order to be considered for this award, the individual must have made a significant contribution by leading or aiding in the areas of water sports & dive in the Cayman Islands through:

  • Development of the dive and/or watersports industry in the Cayman Islands
  • Promotion of the dive and/or watersports industry in the Cayman Islands
  • Positive environmental impact
  • Contribution may be made in the areas of dive travel
  • Art
  • Education
  • Exploration
  • Adventure
