La Spirotechnique who worked closely with Jacques- Yves Cousteau designed this camera. The engineer Marcel Rousseau, who worked with Dimitri Rebikoff, worked on this system and these cylinder-shaped cameras can be seen in Cousteau’s films and television programs dating back to 1964’s World Without Sun. Rousseau-designed cameras brought back miles of film from beneath the sea to be edited into films that enthralled generations of viewers in theaters and on television. Rousseau also served as a technical engineer on the production of Luc Besson’s underwater film, Le Grand Bleu (The Big Bleu) a tribute to the breathhold diver Jacques Mayol.
