JASON WYATT WASHINGTON

For over 20 years, Jason has helped to grow and protect the watersports industry through his work in the creation of iDive and his work with the Cayman United Lionfish League (CULL), the organization in charge of the local lionfish tournaments held four times per year.

Jason has been working full time in the diving industry on Grand Cayman for their past 20 years. Originally hired to work for the Sea View Dive Center, Jason and long time friend Richard Bird jumped at the opportunity to purchase Ambassador Divers, a well-established dive operation located at the Ambassador Inn back in 2001. Since then, Jason has grown the small one man operation into one of Grand Cayman’s most successful dive operations.

Amongst his many accomplishments, Jason is most proud of his role in spearheading and creating CULL, Cayman United Lionfish League, the organization in charge of the local lion fish tournaments held four times per year. Over the years, CULL has removed ten’s of thousands of lion fish from local waters, all the while educating the public on the importance of such ventures both locally and abroad. Jason is also credited with creating the demand for lion fish in our local restaurant scene and putting Cayman on the map as the culinary lionfish capital of the world.

Jason has been featured in multiple overseas media outlets promoting lion fish as a sustainable fish alongside some of the worlds greatest chefs. One of Jason’s recent projects, iDive Cayman Islands, has become one of the most popular web outlets among visiting divers. His vision of creating a web portal where visitors could explore the dive sites offered on Grand Cayman before landing on our shores was realized back in 2011. iDive’s video line up, shot by Jason himself, features the most comprehensive list to date of our underwater product, narrated by some of Cayman’s most iconic divers. Since 2011, iDive has exploded, introducing hundreds of thousands of potential divers to the beauty of the underwater world here on Grand Cayman. iDive has also been the data provider for the popular CITA site, dive365cayman.com
