William Cline

Mr. Cline brings over 30 years of experience to this role as he owns and manages a scuba diving marketing firm, Cline Group, and has served on the Diving Equipment & Marketing Association (DEMA) Board of Directors as Vice-Chairman and many other board committees.

William Cline was first certified as a scuba diver in 1976 and went on to build a career that spans nearly five decades in the diving industry. He worked extensively as a Course Director and Instructor Trainer throughout Florida, the Bahamas, the wider Caribbean, and across South America in Brazil, Venezuela, and Colombia.

In 1990, he founded Cline Group Marketing & Research, a consultancy and advertising agency dedicated to the diving sector. Through this firm, William has partnered with both government and private sector clients worldwide, shaping marketing and advertising campaigns for destinations and organizations across the globe. His client work has included Bonaire, the Bahamas, Barbados, the Turks & Caicos, Dominica, Grenada, Hawaii, Florida, Cozumel, the Cayman Islands, Aruba, China, Hong Kong, Kuwait, and Egypt, among many others.

A leader in publishing, William launched Scuba Diving Magazine for Rodale Press in 1991, establishing one of the most widely read consumer diving publications of its era. Today, he serves as Publisher of the dive industry’s only monthly trade publication, Scuba Diving Industry Magazine, and oversees the production of multiple video podcast series dedicated to serving the scuba diving trade.

Beyond publishing, William has conducted diving industry research for more than 20 years and currently serves as Chair of DEMA’s Research Committee, where he continues to provide insights that guide the industry’s growth. He has also been a member of the Diving Equipment and Marketing Association (DEMA) Board since 2012 and today holds the position of Senior Vice Chairman.
