Jeff & Teri Leicher

United States of America

Jeff and Teri Leicher have dedicated more than four decades to sharing their passion for the ocean while helping shape sustainable dive tourism in Hawaii.

After meeting in Hawaii in the late 1970s, the couple built their careers in the dive industry and eventually helped grow Jack’s Diving Locker in Kona into one of the most respected dive operations in the region.

The Leichers have also played a key role in protecting Hawaii’s coral reefs. Concerned about anchor damage at popular dive sites, they helped promote the installation of permanent mooring systems through the Malama Kai Foundation, which Teri co-founded. Hundreds of moorings have since been installed throughout the Hawaiian Islands.

Their dive operation also helped popularize experiences such as the Kona Manta Ray Night Dive and the Pelagic Magic blackwater dive, both of which have become world-renowned diving attractions.

Through their commitment to conservation, education, and responsible dive tourism, Jeff and Teri Leicher have helped ensure that Hawaii’s underwater environments remain accessible and protected for future generations.
